Captains log in "Elsewhere"

Captains log… somewhere I really don’t feel like being

I just need to collect my thoughts a little. I see, when I look back, that the last thing I wrote in this log was making complete sense. We where going to go to Otiorin through the maelstrom so that we could sail to Arcadia. This however is not Arcadia and no constellation up in the sky… if that’s what it is… Is familiar to me. Right now I just want to go back to my ship and crew. We were sailing down the maelstrom when some magic lightning lifted me and my latest acquaintances of the boat and into this strange dimension. I don’t know if my ship made it without me and the helm and I must constantly stop myself from thinking horrible thought of the fate off my crew. If anything has happened to them it’s my fault.

Right now we are all taking a rest in a “room” with neither walls nor ceiling. There is only six closed doors that look like they’re leading into nothingness. The only thing on this “platform” is a broken sundial that I’ve marked out the time on. Its around 2 pm. I know that’s irrelevant but it makes me relax to know that I at lest have something I can pretend is familiar in this place. Everything else seams only designed to kill us… or at least me…

When we first entered this “world” I found myself chained between two pillars. They wear so tight that I couldn’t move a muscle. I thought I would suffocate since I could hardly take a deep enough breath to keep my mind clear. Xune came to help me, but all she managed to do was touching the chains and they broke… like spider web. Meatshield managed to catch me before I hit the ground. I don’t know why I was the only one that got strapped like that, but it turned out that I alone could touch the chains. Xune severed one so I could toss it over the edge of the platform to see what would happen to it. It started floating in mid air. Xune evoked a lightning bolt to hit it whit but that only made it spin away.

We found a chain bridge leading from our platform and up to another. I tide a rope around one of the columns that lined our flour and started climbing up. As we hopped, the chains still supported me. The bridge felt like cold metal but was fairly easy to climb.

On the other platform the floor was like a chessboard and it was lined with statues of angels holding swords. I tied my end of the rope around one of the statues so the others could climb up. Xune balanced on the rope like she was walking down a street. The rest used their arms to climb. Brakk missed the line and fell through the chain bridge, that shattered like before. Then he suddenly started floating in the air unable to get anywhere. We threw him a rope so that he could climb up.

On the centre of the floor Xune spotted a text written in the stone. It had her name on it and it spoke of all the adventures she’s been on. The last sentences stated that she was not bound by faith. It made me remember the ritual I learned a few years back. The one that Arcadia sent me to find and then discovered it was useless without three souls unbound by fate. I guess Xune is one of those souls…

Anyway as soon as she was done reading, walls shot up from the ground parting me and Xune from Meatshield and Claw and in the next breath some off the stone pieces in the floor flipped over and reviled human sized silvering spiders. I guess they are the ones that make those scary chains around here. Me and Xune decided it was better to be on the other side of the wall with our friends and ran around the wall to support them. I made a swing on one of the spiders but the blade only sang a metallic tone, then I felt the world turn and the stone underneath my feet flipped alone with Xunes. I thought we wear gonna fall but suddenly, from our point of view, down was up, and we where still engage with huge spiders. I could hear Claw calling out for us through the… floor… and we called back to tell them that we were still okay.

It was an irritating fight. Walls kept changing positions and before we figured out why some of the platforms turned and others didn’t, every step you took was dangerous. At least I manage to slay two of the monsters before the fight was over.

Even though its a bit confusing I think that we at the end ended up on the underside of the platform. It looked exactly as the top but at bit beside Xunes message there was a new one, and in between there was a treasure chest. This time the name written in stone was my own… I’m going to die in three years… by hanging from the gallows. ...Looking at those words in my own private log make me what to rip the page out. But that won’t change my destiny. Maybe if I can find two other souls unbound by faith Xune and them will help me escape it. Xune said that she wanted to help and even tried to cheer me up by saying that at least now I know that nothing can touch me until I turn twenty-nine. That’s not much of a comfort though. Just thinking about the gallows makes my lunch want to escape my insides. But I’ll try to be positive. At least I was told my birth parents names; Zareen and Kerwin. And I know that my true name is Nerissa Grewal not Nerissa Drake… Even thou I think of myself more like the person I am today then I was back then… I mean I was only eight and I hardly remember anything anyway.

From the chest we got a new rope. It fell out in the sky, which seems to support my theory that we indeed was on the underside… I tide the rope to a metal-ring in the chest and then we started climb up… halfway up, up again turned into down and we all spun around one by one in the air before landing on this platform where we all sit now… Well Meatshield is roaming about whining that he wants to open up one of the doors but He’ll just have to wait. I’m not the only one that needs to catch my breath. I can feel it in the others too.

Captains log, I’m not sure this place was much better.

I’m thinking about investing in some waterproofed fabric so I can make a pocket for my journal. At least the salesman was truthful about the paper and ink being impervious to water, but its a bit irritating to wait for it to dry up so I can add new writing to the pages. And yes I’ve been completely submerged again. I can’t for the love of my life figure out why I don’t drown in situations like this… oh right my fate… Its not fair to deprive me of a death at sea. Blasted gods and their stupid games. I haven’t learned to swim for a reason. Well hopefully its not yet too late to change my destiny.

The doors I mentioned earlier did actually lead to somewhere. It was strange though. Every room seemed to be a construct of the imagination of whomever opened it. Meatshield entered first and the room turned out to be some sort of old study with a scary looking table with straps for arms and legs. A man was in the room as well and he spoke with Meatshield as if he knew him well. He asked him to lay down on the table but Meatshield declined. Then he wizard-looking man took out a rod and ordered Meatshield to lay down and he did. Xune and I tried to stop him but my sword couldn’t go through some strange barrier around the man. When I tried to simply untie the straps that held Meatshield to the table the same forcefield emerged. It was frustrating to feel the fear in Meatshield and not being able to help him. I hate to be powerless when a friend is in trouble…darn it, did I just… ah fine, I guess he is more like a friend than anything else…

Anyhow, the man started operating on him talking about some malfunction. He said that something must be wrong in his programming since he hadn’t fulfiled his assignment to murder a baron. Meatshield replied that he hadn’t recived such orders since he’d been dropped behind a cart on his way to the camp-site. When the man finally let him go he asked Meatshield to tell him his story. Meatshield got so exited at the chance that we all felt it safe to leave him in the room and check out the next one.

Xune stepped fearlessly up to one of the doors and opened it up. We all entered a cave corridor lined with chained slaves, working the walls with pickaxes. Most of them looked human but I guess one could never know. I tried touching one of them but that annoying barrier kept emerging. Xune seamed to find someone she recognised, an older drow woman, maybe her mother working in the mine. They spoke in elven, which I don’t understand. They had a pretty long talk before Xune blasted the chains of the woman’s hands. The woman gave her a three-cornered, cut stone piece and Xune gave her an odd hug. The woman hugged her as oddly back before teleporting away.

When we came back out Meatshield was just thrown out his own room holding on to his notebook and a three-cornered stone piece of his own. I looked at the Sundial and realized that they would fit nicely around its edges. This also made me realise that we all needed to enter a room, something I wasn’t so keen on doing myself, but Xune gave me a “friendly” push towards one of the doors and I opened it.

We entered a kitchen I vaguely remembered but couldn’t seem to place. A woman was standing with her back turned to me. Even so, I could clearly make out that she was a changeling with her soft pink hair and slenderness. I took a deep breath to make my heart stop beating so hard and tapped her on the shoulder, asking if she was the one I was suppose to meet. She jumped and turned with a frightened yelp. She claimed I had entered trough a looked door and demanded to know who I was. I told her my name and she said that I had the same name as her daughter. That did not calm my heart down at all. She asked if I was showing her my true face and since I wasn’t I showed it to her. It was a strange feeling. She’s dead but there she was, stroking my face and hair with a love I couldn’t remember. I felt like a phony, like I was fooling her, and when she asked about my life… What was I suppose to say? I felt like I owed it to her to make her proud of me, and here I was a criminal. I’ve never felt so rotten in my life as when I lied to her to make my life sound “better” than it was. She asked if I wanted to stay for diner, but I couldn’t. I asked if my father was near by. Not because I really wanted to disappoint him too, but to get to see his face. I really wish I had gotten to do that, just once… But she said he wasn’t coming. She gave me my three-cornered stone piece along with a proud smile. I wanted to hug her but I just couldn’t bring myself to it and I left.

Claw’s door reviled a path in an evergreen forest. He seamed to immediately recognize the place because he didn’t want us to follow him. I told him that if he got to be in mine I got to be in his and he seamed to be fine with that. We quickly came upon a cart that was driven along the path by an old man. He told Claw to climb up, and he did. The rest off us sat in the back. Nice of that place not to make the rest off us walk along the side. The man turned out to be a priest of… that religion Claw always preaches about and he asked Claw how he felt that he was true to his faith. To my surprise Claw seamed a bit uncertain and shaken in his beliefs and he told the priest this truthfully. He didn’t seam to be ashamed of his actions at al, which I found very awe-inspiring. I must admit that I got a little more respect for Claw after that.

Brakk’s reaction to his door was also surprising. Ever since I meet him I understood that he thinks humans are worth less than other races, but I didn’t know that he was raised by humans. We entered a small house with his mother sitting by the table and his father looking out the window. Brakk immediately took a defensive approach to the situation and soon he and his father was in a heated argument about weakness and abandonments. His father blamed his and his wife death on him saying that he should have been able to save them. Brakk replayed that if they had been better parents he might have done so. Meatshield continuously and confused stated that he only thought they had killed Brakk’s father and couldn’t understand why the mother was here to. I’m not gonna ask what he mean by killing the man, since I’m sure it wouldn’t make sense to me anyway…

When we had collected al six of the pieces for the sundial we compared them and saw that they al had different symbols. Mine for example had a solar-eclipse while Meatshield had a sun and Xune had a crescent moon. We put them down in the right order from dawn to dusk and so forth, but the only thing that gave us was a hard workout as the flour-tiles suddenly started to fall from one end of the room and add on to the other. We ran hard, even more so when we felt the stones underneath our feet grew lose. Meatshield had thrown us all a rope to hold on to but I wasn’t convinced that we would be able to keep running and pulling a fallen companion up from the empty space surrounding us at the same time. It felt more likely that we would all be ending up floating around in nothingness if that be the case. Lucky enough the floor finally stooped failing and we all came to a halt in front of a new door. Xune stepped up and opened it.

This new room was shaped like crossroads, still without any ceiling or walls. In the middle of it was a gazebo and every short end of the paths lead to a portal symbolising one off the four elements, Air, Earth, Fire and Water, the portal we entered trough was fire. Out of no where four Genasi appeared in the gazebo, each of them representing one of the elements. Brakk let out a battle cry and ran forth to engage in battle. The rest of us followed. They Genasi appeared strangely easy to kill but they constantly respawned. Brakk then turned his attention towards the portals, figuring that they were the reason to the resurrections of the fallen Genasis. He started chopping at one of them trying to get it to crumble. I however tried to push the Air Genasi into the air portal. It only took around half a minute to do, but it felt like it would darn take for ever. Brakk manage to destroy the earth portal and then he showed up at my side and helped me shoved the Genasi into its own portal. The portal and the Genasi got instantly destroyed. When we realised that destroying the portals stopped the remaining Genasi to respawn we quickly defeated them. Meatshield, that was standing inside the gazebo was suddenly swallowed by a red light coming from it. The rest of us quickly jumped in after him to see where he’d gone.

We all landed in a pile of gravel at the far end of a “room”. There was three enormous status lined up along the corridor and at the other far end there was a throne. When we all slowly started to make our way across to it a woman dressed in robes of white light appeared at the high seat. She announced that she was Fate, the goddess of fate… Boy must they’ve been having a huge lack off imagination when she was born… She wasn’t pleased with us being here. She kept referring to the others as untouchable for her and mocked me for being in her absolute control. I was almost tempted to pull out my sword and stab myself to death, just to prove to that corn skull I was nobody’s puppet.

Finally she stopped talking about her greatness and dispute with the other Gods and evoked her Avatar to fight us. Simultaneously the huge statues started moving their weapons around their scope. Brakk once again leap into action but almost as quickly as he engage the monster he was gone into thin air. Xune kept her distance with the help of her special powers but I had no other choice then to try and face the creature head on, like Brakk. I did my beast to stay on it as a hawk but it kept teleporting away, making me have to run after it. The Avatar pushed us away right and left, leaving some off us trapped in the strange floating sky right next to us. I used my psionic powers to the best off my ability and manage to shake him up a bit. When the monster turned towards me with and evil glare Meatshield threw himself into the fight and delivered a final blow that made the best fall to the ground.

With that, one of the statues, that had been trying to flatten us out before, suddenly started smoking and exploded. A mist was left in its place that spoke up, thanking us for seating her free. It was a woman called Yenven, just like the ocean we had been trying to leave behind us early this very morning. She claimed to have walked the earth a 4000 years ago together with her friends Otiorin and Marathris, all three of them apparently unbound by faith… and I guess the namers of the three world oceans… She explained that Xune and the others was part of a prophecy that reads that every forth millennium there would be people that was born outside of fate and therefore able to create their own destiny. Then she turned to me and apologised for only speaking with “the important people”, and told me that she could see the chains holding me bound very clear and if I should wish to escape my fate I had to find a ritual. I told her I already new that ritual but that I wondered if she could tell me the fate of my crew. She told me she could only see fates in people she could look at and it was clear that she couldn’t care less if they had manage their way through the maelstrom or not. Finally she promised to return us to the exact time and place where we’d be abducted but as far as I’m concerned that was more or less a lie. I’m not sure if we were at the same place but we sure as hell wasn’t at the right time. There was no boat for us to land on!

The first thing I noticed, however, when I opened my eyes was that the night sky match the stars over the Otiorinian ocean this time of year… if it is this time of year… As for now I believe we’ve been swept ashore on the beach to Arcania. Everyone seems more or less fine and there is a woman here with us that the other claimed to have seen a couple of months ago but that is now ten years older. If that’s true and that 4000 year old twit puff made us go ten years into the future… Then it means that I’ve been declared dead three years ago… Dose that mean I’m no longer a captain? But… that’s… not fair… I’ve lived at sea since I was eight. I don’t know how to do anything else… if I’m not a captain any more, then what am I?

Captain’s log, by Nerissa, captain of "The Dragon's Star”

Captain’s log: Day 2 in free port

Well this day started rather charming. Vi were attacked by Drow assassins when we all vent back for the stuff Xune and the others had ordered. Nevitash had suspected them to be there but was kind enough to keep that information for himself. He seems to be keeping a lot of information for himself lately. For instance he had failed to tell his friend Captain George Morgan that I’m a captain as well. That pig just won’t quit trying to make me abandon my title.

Anyway it was a scary fight. Thees assassins knew what they were doing and a magical barrier prevented us from doing anything other than facing them head on. The barrier didn’t go down until we had defeated them all. One of them was being held hostage by us but when the authorities entered the store demanding to leave with the assassin Shadow stepped up and unnoticeably killed the prisoner. He is good at doing stuff unnoticed. I still haven’t figured out what he did to the set of clothing I borrowed him…

Xune made a scene with the authority figure, calling himself Ideal. He would have taken her with him if it wasn’t for the fact that she is under my command as long as she is acting as a part of my crew.

Anyhow, Captain Morgan followed us back to my ship and told us a little about the situation in the city. Nevitash spent the time trying to reacquaint himself with Amelia. I don’t think she has forgiven him for the last time jet though…

Captain Morris told us that he had prof in is office inside the spear that made Ideal a traitor to the city, but he was not able to present the evidence himself to anybody and he needed our help to do so. Right now I can’t really remember why we accepted, but we did. I forced Nevitash into taking a swim too. That bastard seamed to need it. Amelia almost took a swing at me whit her sword by mistake in the process and she has been avoiding me ever since. That’s good since I didn’t what her to try and talking me out of doing this. I wounder where she is at the moment tough…

This evening there was to be a celebration for the new Mage that was to preform the maelstrom-turn. If we had an invitation we could easily get in and sneak of to his office for the papers. Sadly we did not have one and apparently only prominent captains would receive such an honorably invitation. That doesn’t really stop us though. We are pirates after all and Xune has a way with words. We gave the officials at the bureau three reasons to why I should have been invited. That was interesting, apparently I eat dragons now… Thanks for that Shadow …

My invitations stated that I could bring two guests and so we could easily get Xune and Shadow in and we arranged it so that Meatshield could pose as my property and carry a gift for the Mage. It feels kind of weird though to have a sentient warforged as property… Claw and Brack had to stay behind on the boat.

The celebration itself was a strange experience. I may be used to act in similar establishments but never in this form. It made me feel a bit vulnerable not to have my sword on my person, but it was a comfort to know that it was in Meatshields bag of holding.

Don’t ask me how it happened but Nevitash was at the feast to, looking charming as usual. It took some self control to actually go whit Xune and the others on the mission and not just stay there with him.

We managed to get Shadow to sneak of unnoticed and after awhile he returned whit the papers. I wonder what else he might have put down in his pockets…

Anyhow the lot fell on me to present the documents to the Masked tyrant, The ruler of Freeport. He was sitting in his high seat overlooking the celebration and when he turned to look at me I felt very uncomfortable. I couldn’t see any flesh on him at all. Everything was only robes and mechanics and when he spoke to me he did it straight into my head like Nevitash sometimes does. It made my own skin crawl. The masked tyrant thanked me for my service and asked for my chose of award. I told him that I and my company wanted to deal with Ideal ourselves. Xune had told me that she wanted to see if she could get some answers out of him since we suspected Ideal was behind the Drow assassins. I suppose I could have asked for something more… Like gold perhaps, but right then I felt it being reward enough just to get to leave the masked tyrants presence. All the guests at the party stepped away from me when I came down again. Only Nevitash came up to me and pulled me close. That made me feel better. He has the most calming and reassuring voice.

We left the celebration a while later to encounter Ideal at his house where official city guards already had taken out most off his men. Ideal was presumed to hold up in the basement and so we ventured forward. Indeed we bumped in on the traitor in his cellar together with four nasty fire-constructs. I never thought I’d see Meatshield go down In battle. He always seems unstoppable and unaffected by everything around him. I guess that just isn’t true. I did my best to help him but I had already used up much of my psionic strength on getting Shadow fit for battle. That poor fellow had already had around eight arrows in his chest this morning. I admire his endurance… Meatshields too.

When he defeated Ideals underlings the barrier protecting him from us died down. It was the same barrier that had blocked the door this morning. He didn’t surrender until he was more dead than alive. Then he confessed that he had been recruited three years ago by a secret organization to kill us all in exchange to be the next Mask tyrant. That doesn’t make any sense since I’ve only known this people a couple of weeks and apparently they haven’t been out adventuring more than around six months… strange indeed. What person from our past could we all have in common? I doubt anyone since they obviously haven’t been out at sea much… very odd indeed. Shadow wanted Ideal to learn him to speak demon, for some reason but then Meatshield stabbed Ideal to death. I suppose that was the right thing to do if Shadow is drawn to stuff like that…

Later this evening we observed the new Mage preforming the maelstrom-ritual. This time it went without deadly explosions which means that we are free to set sail tomorrow. I need to stop now. Someone is knocking at my door…

Everywhere we go people try to kill us

Hi there again my little book, Its been a few weeks since I last wrote in you now but most of that time has been uneventful. There have been a few highlights however. After we left the Island of dragons we encountered a ship, and it seems that either we are pirates and attacked them or they where disguised pirates chasing us and about to attack so we made a pre-emptive strike. I’m not sure since I just got called up to deck and then fighting started. We shot down their big sail-carry-wood-stick thing, or as my docent keeps correcting me “mast”, and then boarded them. I think it went ok but since I’ve never boarded a ship before I’m not sure. Well it was mostly a mob fight anyway, there where a few enemies with crossbows but Xune made short work of them.

After beating them most of Nerissas crew ran down bellow deck and came out with wood, not really sure why they want to have wood but if it makes them happy I’m not one to point it out. It made me a bit nostalgic though as I recognised some of the trees they had. They hade the mark ofBlavikens woodcutters guild on the side. What strange twist of fate to encounter anything from Blaviken way out here at see. My docent tells me I digress, but I just think I’m getting off topic. There was a problem with the surviving hostile sailors, should they be killed or allowed to join the crew? Nerissa didn’t want them in her crew and I can understand that, one has to have standards in a fighting force it will just fall apart. But she didn’t want to just kill them either. Guy later told me that truly great captains always leave their week enemies alive to spread the word, potentially grow stronger or get a child to later get revenge at you so that you can best them again/as well and let your fame grow even more. Seems complicated to me, I think you should kill your enemy. But then again people keep telling me I’m special so maybe its not the right thing to do? We ended up tying them to their broken ship with some food and basic repair materials. If they are as good as they boasted during the fight they should be able to free them selves and repair the ship.

A few days later there was some commotion about us meeting a sea serpent of some sort, Nerissa had me drag some heavy chains that put large metal shields all around the ship and lowered the sail-holdi..MAST.. they then threw a chained cow out in front. The serpent bit the cow and dragged the entire ship at great speed for almost a week! I tell you little book, its definitely the strangest way of travelling I’ve ever seen.

I have no idea how we ended up at Freeport, the city around the maelstrom. But all crew members seemed happy and sure we would get there. How do they know the serpent wont just go in another direction? or suddenly dive! Well I guess I shouldn’t look a gift serpent in the mouth, it might eat me after all. Freeport it self is really a marvellous city, its built on the water around the raging maelstrom with only a small land anchor on a nearby mountain peaking out of the water. The city was truly alive and amazing inside aswell, I have never seen such a large city with so many people. Right when we docked an old pirate named Pete offered to show us around town for a gold piece. It was a grand tour and I learned much, we got to sell some stuff, placed an order to buy some stuff and even witnessed a grand light show! It turned out that someone blew up however, even if that only seemed to make people happier. Nerissa met an old friend of hers to,Nevitash, or maybe an old enemy… I’m not really sure. They seem to like each other, to a degree, while still disliking each other. I asked Amelia about it but she told me to keep my nose out of it and when I tried to explain that I wasn’t planing on detaching anything from my face and that I don’t even really have a nose she just yelled at me and shooed me away. Well he is staying at the same In as us, the drunk serpent, and nobody has told me to kill him so I guess he is ok. He also told us that someone was asking questions about us and looking for us, Nevitash said he would find out more the day after.

The next day however we first went to pick up the thing we ordered from a very nice shop, ultimate emporium or something like that. We had ordered a bag of holding and an instant camp site. But when we got there we received an Ambush! And by Drow assassins no less! it was a hard fought victory but well worth it. I got a new armor! the store owner was so happy that he gave me an full set of plate! Nerissa got a new sword to. I really like the new armor, Its really shiny but still light and flexible. Its feels more like a new skin then an armor plate. Oh and we met some guy named Optimal or sum such and he wanted to kill us, but I wasn’t really paying attention as I just got SWEET ARMOR. I wonder what I shall do with the old one? Guess I should just sell it. What is that Docent? captain Morgan helped us by telling us about a Opramals plot to kill us? And told us where to find the evidence? Are you sure? huh, the things you miss when you look away for a second or two. Well after we got away from there we packed in the skull from that inbred dragon as a gift, went to the department of invitations or something and talked for a long time about how cool Nerissa is so she would get an invitation. Wonder if she has bad self esteem so she needs to hear how great she is? Well after scaring some people and talking alot she got her invitation. It was formal ware so I got Had to look really shiny so as not to look out of place. I spent many hours making sure every bit was polished and that all joints where greased so they wouldn’t squeak. did I mention that I really like my new armor?

Well while I wasn’t really looking Shadow had snuck away and got the evidence we needed and Nerissa talked to the leader of the town, some guy called the masked tyrant. Sort of looked like a warforged with that mask of his on…or hers..its? Well he was happy about what was on the papers, prof that Olympus was cheating or stealing or some such, he was to be killed anyway and we got to do it. Xune really wanted to kill that guy, and get information out of him. But mostly just kill I think. She is kinda scary, you would think that I wouldn’t be affected by that mask of hers since my own faces doesn’t show emotions or the like but I’m so used to see reactions that its just wrong when I don’t. I wonder if others feel that about me?

Our fight against Ohara was a hard won one. He summoned living flames that attacked us. I did my best to keep them off my friends but I think I did to well. I could sense Oglaf creep inside my mind and twist what I saw, It lasted for only a few seconds but I lost concentration and one of the elementals got in a hit that cut me down. I could feel my essence fading for a blink of an eye as I fell to the floor. Nerissa got me back up again fast but it was still really scary. Shortly after I got back up the winds of battle turned and we were able to best Ogren and his elemental servants. He said he was working on behalf of a secret organisation that wanted us dead. They had given him this mission 3 years ago! I might not even have been made by then! This is really strange. Olalalala Then started talk in some strange language and for fear of him teleporting away or mindcontroling someone I slew him on the spot. He had a symbol of the people he worked for, a broken chain. Something about this makes my neck plate static.

That very night the ritual to change the maelstrom was done successfully and we set sail the following morning, to Arcadia. But as we got close to the maelstrom something went wrong. I cant explain it but me,Brack,Claw,Nerissa,Shadow and Xune got pulled off the ship and into what my Docent says is a pocket universe made by one of the creators. We all woke up on a huge black and white game board, Nerissa was chained down by chains that to everyone else turned to dust as soon as we touched them. I get the feeling we have to be careful here and not touch to many things or we might all fall to a horrible fate. Nerissa might have to do most things here on her own. Oh well. we decided to take a break before continuing our exploration, in the mean time I will have to decide if and how I should mark my self because of my close encounter with death? Since I have made the places I have travelled through into parts of me, should I also mark great events that happened to me on me? I talked about this to one of Nerissas crew late last night while he was under the inluence of much rum, and he said that many people get tattoos for such events. Maybe I should do something like that? Get an engraving where my near fatal wound was?

Oh well I guess I have to get out of here before that is worth thinking to much about. We might be here a loooong time…

Captain’s log, by Nerissa, captain of "The Dragon's Star”

Captain’s log: Day 7 at open sea

We’re having a very light and amused mood among the crewmen tonight. This is because we have happened to gather some new prize worthy cargo. Earlier this morning we encountered a merchant ship heavily loaded with wood and crew, 24 people… which coincidentally is the total amount of crew members on my own vessel… Well my five guests seamed very interested in the commotion so I let them join in on the fun. I even got to fire one of the canons myself. That takes me back… although it feels odd having someone else commission orders.

Anyway I managed to hit the mast of the other ship and after that we boarded. I know I’m not supposed to but accidents and confusion do sometimes happen… I suppose Amelia will be holding on to my coat for the next couple of days.

Most of the enemies were synchronized seamen holding formation in a “angry mob”-fashion. The rest had crossbows, now that’s not fighting fair, but then again Xune made some weird moves aboard that deck. She even flew… twice! And I know that might sound weird but I can assure that I’m not drunk… yet. I decided to do my duty first… Well fine, I’ve celebrated a little but who wouldn’t?

Xunes dress got a bit torn by arrows in the fight but when I offered her to lend one of my cloths she decided that she wanted to sow it up instead. She was impressively good at it so I guess I shouldn’t take her rejection as a mistrust in our friendship. I doubt she would have revealed her face for me if she didn’t trust me. Then again we are kind of in the same boat in that matter…

I myself created a wormhole around the mob and slid some of them off the deck. Shortly after that they decided to surrender. The warforged tied them up aboard their own deck. They wear so scared that they wanted to join my ship crew. I don’t really have the interest in allowing ten potential mutineers aboard my ship. Its better to leave them to fend for themselves, as Meatshield put it: “If they’re so good seamen as the claim they should manage to get home by themselves.” Sometimes that thing makes sense… or maybe I really just am drunk.

Captain’s log: Day 8 at open sea

We encountered the sea-serpent today so right now we are traveling at top-speed. Its an interesting sight from my window as my land-dwelling guests have noticed. They wear standing down here for quite some time until they finally got bored. Xune asked me about the creatures and I suddenly had this feeling that something was wrong. It felt like I had lost more of my memories. I hope it isn’t true. Its been three years since then, it should been over and done… I really hope that thing doesn’t still have power over my mind. I almost wish I had my spirit companion whit me again, it would have made me feel better, I know it. Anyway I haven’t spoken about this to anyone. Hopefully it will just pass.

Anyway we spotted the sea-serpent, offer our cow, and now where on our way to Free Port. I wounder if he will be there… its been like six months or something since I last saw him. I wounder how he’s been…

Anyway Meatshield was kind enough to help us make the ship fit for this type of travel. Since I’ve met him I’ve come to the conclusion that he is very simple minded and curious… kind of like a child sometimes. I wounder how long he’s been… active. Well I don’t know. I’m starting to have a hard time thinking about him as I do whit Noel. They’re just so different. Although I still think Meatshield could use a lesson in manners, but he is at lest somewhat decent… and useful… I guess.

Captain’s log: Day 1 at Free Port

Duties… Sometimes they’re just plain boring. But I am using you to drive someone else mad at the moment. I must say that leaving me with the dinner-bill he deserved the slap in the face I gave him when I first saw him today. He always does something stupid I wonder if he can really help it. But it drives me mad too, sometimes, so I guess we’re getting even for now…

My ship arrived at Free Port this morning. We were shown around town by an old seaman named Pete, and Xune got a bit anxious or something about the survival rate of entering and exiting a Maelstrom. I assured her that I have succeed every time I have done so and I have done it almost a dozen times. I’m not sure that it calmed her down though… My guests had the time to sell some collectibles at the marketplace. They also made an order at the Ultimate Emporium by the spire. I’m impressed because I usually don’t shop there for obvious reasons.

The evenings ritual to turn the Maelstrom failed. A man was killed in the attempt. I didn’t see it up close because I had lent my looking glass to Xune, she seemed very interested in the magic powers that were displayed. I hope she won’t be scarred by what she saw, but I kind of think she’s seen worse…

Alright now I’ve completely lost track… Damn it, I hate that he can do that to me. Ah well, that’s right, speaking of him, Nevitash found us at “The drunken serpent” where we will spend the night. As I mentioned earlier he made me pay for the dinner tonight but at least he had some interesting news. Apparently someone is after me and my guests…. That’s unfortunately all he knew, that bastard… with his strong hands rubbing my shoulders…

Damn it…

I told him about the King in Kaupmandur going civil and hanging pirates. I’m glad he didn’t ask how I got out of there. I think he might not like to hear about that…But I do swear that if I ever see that fat man again I’ll kill him for double-crossing me and all those things I had to do… Damn him… and Nevitash too, while we’re at it why not damn the entire world?

By the way… [What ever the captain meant to put here has turned in to a black line of ink]

Into the Temple

Hi there little book. How have you been doing? Drying up alright since [[Why do our ships always break? | last]]? I’ve been adventuring big time since last! We went into that temple to save the living artefact and to find provisions and repair materials. It might be a bit rude to just take it from the Lizardmen, but a quest is a quest! After going in a bit we came to a large room with a fountain full of bones and two protective ground emplacements. The fountain looked like some sort of garbage pile but claw quickly exclaimed that it was evil. Some sort of bad thing bound to it making dark goop attack us and stopping us in our tracks. All the while two shaman lizards threw spells at us. Me and Brack quickly went in after them while Nerissa andClaw backed us up. It went fast and well. Claw was stuck in the goop the entire fight and Nerissa seemed to very angry at me for some reason, maybe its because I haven’t thanked her for the private room I got on the ship? Well I guess I have to think of something.

But on with the story. We went on deeper into the temple down a spiralling stairway into a huuuge cave. We could see the artefact far off on the other side of a deep chasm. There had been a suspension bridge connecting it but it was long since destroyed. Nerissa pointed out a plant nearby that she said would suck blood to grow. Brack then went up to it and started feeding it! Knowing how little blood my friends have I of course sliced the plant down immediately. He told me after that he wanted to use it to get over but I didn’t know that then. But after looking around It was clear to me that one of us had to do some jumping and climbing go get a rope across, and since Brack was now low on blood, I volunteered myself. I climbed up a nearby ledge with water running on it, looked like it was part of some sort of canal, and then jumped out to the lone stone platform linking the old bridge. I just barely made the jump. I grabbed on to the edge and crawled my way up. I swear if I had a cardiovascular system I would have gotten a hart attack. But I somehow managed and we where able to get across. As my friends made it across the ropes they all slipt and fell, if it wasn’t for Nerissas foresight in tying a rope around them they would all have fallen in. The part of the bridge that was intact was also treacherous. I made a barrelroll but somehow managed to cling to it. After getting across there was nothing in the way of us and the talking artefact, a dagger that turns itself invisible. It seemed most gracious of its rescue and happy about aiding Shadow in the future.

Getting out wasn’t any problem but outside the Temple there was a huge beast waiting for us. It looked like some sort of dragon but without wings and a much larger head and smaller arms. Really strange beast, but it attacked us almost immediately so there was no time for studying. Nerissa and Brack hit it hard and we could see it its balance failing. But as it was going down smaller reptiles came to help it, must have been its spawn. But as the mighty adventurers we are we bested them in combat and now have a large amount of fresh food for everyone. Well except me, I don’t eat.

Once we got back Nerissas crew had fixed the ship and we sailed away almost the instant we got back. And now we are on our way, finally, to Arcadia! And I got a room-mate! Some “Guy” we picked up on the island,, but we talk allot and he seems nice. I hope we finally get to Arcadia so my docent stops yelling at me, I swear I’m gonna kill someone if he keeps yelling at me an entire night again. Its bad enough during the day when I can distract myself from him, but during the night when I paint he just annoys the living essence out of me!

Captain’s log, by Nerissa, captain of "The Dragon's Star"

Captain’s log: Day 1 in “The island de la Draco”

We are finally back on track now. It’s about time. I hate being away from the sea to long and the incident back in port was already getting to me as it was. The Dragon’s star has been repaired and Titania informed me that we are slowly making it back on course. She also informed me that the island we had been on is called: The island de la Draco. I think we might have to rename it now however…

The cave I mentioned in my last entry seems to have been a temple, but I don’t know to whom. It had fairly nice paintings on the walls but in one of the rooms there was a lot less nice pile of bones. That room also contained two lizard guards and a strange dark thick liquid that would swarm you up to you waist and hold you there. We all got our fair share of that one, but Claw, whom refused to move away, was almost stuck the entire battle. He was acting a little too much like he was enjoying the feeling, and I can assure that it was not pleasant. Neither were the burning bursts of flames that came at me at one point. I thought it would burn away my eyebrows. Wouldn’t have made any difference though since I easily could replace them…

When we ventured forth into the deepest room of the cave we found a large chamber with two bridges over a black hole. One of them was torn down and the other side to far away to simply jump over. I spotted a Dew frond growing in the cave and told the rest it feeds on blood and the dragonborn, Brack, decided to check if I was speaking the truth. He cut himself and walked over to it. Of course it immediately grabbed on to him and started sucking his blood. Fortunately for him the Warforged cut it down.

Our only alternative to cross over to the other side of the first bridge was to climb a waterfall. The Warforged took on the mission to do this. He had to make a smaller jump to get to the platform in the middle of the room, and I must say that even though he’s more of a thing than a person I was really worried when he almost failed that jump…. I mean if he should perish… how will I then get my vengeance…?

Anyway, he tied the rope on the other side and threw the other end back to us where I secured it before crossing. That was the scariest thing I did today. I really should do something about my poor acrobatical talents… I actually feel into the darkness, but I had been forth seeing enough to have a safety line so I was okay. The other two followed my example to the point of even falling off the rope before crossing. Then we took on the second bridge that looked like it could fall any second, but fortunately it didn’t, although the warforged had a small trip when the bridge spun around for an entire turn with him still standing on it. Finally on the other side we found the trapped artifact, a speaking dagger. He… or rather “it” was very strange in its speech but I guess Shadow can make good use of it. I think I’ll stick to my great sword… At least I don’t have to worry about that bursting into song on occasions.

Outside the cave it had started to turn into dusk, and we were greeted by a loud roar. I immediately understood that this must be that dragon the dagger had claimed not to be present on the island, but to my surprise it didn’t really look like a dragon. Not anyone that I’ve ever seen before at least. It was walking upright and had these peculiarly small upper arms, and the head was bigger… it looked prehistoric and inbred. In any case we charged it. Brack, and I actually did very good against the beast but he was soon joined by a huge number of smaller sharp toothed carnivore lizards. We are roosting one of them tonight for dinner. Honestly though that big lizard was worthy to have the island named after him. It had awful, evil, yellow eyes that starred at you as if you would be very tasty. I for one really wouldn’t have enjoyed being trapped between its jaws.

The mysterious marooned seaman named Guy Floatwood has temporarily joined my crew. He paid 30 Gold to do so. I don’t trust him though and have told my crewmembers not to speak with him too much. I think he is up to something and I really don’t like the idea if his nemesis attacking my ship to get to him. I mean Guy claims that he has a deal with the demon that runs so that he can’t be killed by him. But I hear no insurance that the demon can’t kill the rest of us. If I could have left him on the island with a clean conscience I would have. But I can’t really just leave him there to die can I? I’ve put him in the brig for now as a companion for the warforged. At least it gives him some purpose I guess…

I have decided to bid farewell to my spirit companion. It simply was time. He came to me seven years ago as a guiding voice when I’d lost my adoptive father and gained the responsibility in leading a ship with a crew. Now however I think it’s time for me to trust in my own judgment and abilities more than in others. I guess I will miss it though. It’s been a comfort and big help but you have to grow up some time, don’t you?

Why do our ships always break?

Hi there my little book, are you all nice and dry now? Its a good thing you weren’t washed overboard because I would never have found you! But do you know why our ships keep sinking? The one we got to travel the river sunk just as we got to back to Hochenwald and this one sinks as soon as we leave the harbour. We should just stick to walking or riding.

But I’m getting ahead of my self so I’ll start from were I left of. Yesterday we finally caught the killer of Haugurafgulli and we were on out way to Arcadia by Nerissas ship. So far so good. But it seems that I made Nerissa very happy carried her around town, so much so that I wasn’t allowed go where I wanted on the ship. I was told to go to some place called “the brig” for my own safety. I don’t know what they usually have there but I think its some sort of treasure room because it looks very secure. And because she put me there it must mean she doesn’t want me to get hurt and want to protect me! So I went down and sat there, even if it was very very boring. But claw came down and played some pokerdice with me so it went ok.

For some reason we went to a small cove to wait for some other ship, or that’s what I understood from the sailors who where in the brig to protect me. I’m not sure why we were waiting for it though. But I was called up to the deck (that’s what they call the big top floor on ships) to guard Nerissa. And that was good to because as soon as the other sailors went over to the other ship we got attacked! Seems Nerissa has a bounty on her head, wonder witch one since she can change it. But anyway it was a bloody and hard fight, but luckily several of them got pushed overboard, including their leader. We captured him and got some information out of him, then Shadow killed him. I thought it was a bit uncalled for but who am I to judge. It did make the barrier summoned around the ship disappear though, so I guess it was ok. Nerissas first mate (does that mean she was the first friend Nerissa made? Does that make Blaze my first mate?) got really angry though that we hadn’t protected Nerissa as well as we could, as she had taken some minor wounds. She took a battle stance and I was about to charge her when she was told to stand down. Lucky that, I would hate to fight all the sailors. I think she was extra mad too because the ship they where meeting didn’t have the thing they wanted, I guess it was a shop ship and they went to get something and it was out. Oh well, what can you expect when trading with a ship.

However after the fighting things got even worse. A storm blew up and it was a really bad one, we even needed to help he sailors keep the ship from sinking. I mean what did we even pay for? first we sail somewhere else, then we have to fight and now we even have to sail the ship? No wonder so few people travel by ship! But I’m getting off topic, the storm was really bad. So bad that the ship actually got turned upside-down. I was on the deck when I saw a huuuuuge watery hand come and sweep us away. I wonder if the ocean is actually a Giganormous waterelemental? and we where itching its head and it was only scratching? I should get someone to look into that. But anyway we got tossed around and turned all kinds of ways so much I had no idea what was even up. And I must have hit my head because I got unconscious sometime during the storm and didn’t wake up until the day after.

It was a long sandy beach, and it seems one of the cows took a licking to our captain. Guess it will be burgers they eat tonight. It seems everyone survived but the ship needed repairs. I figured that I to might need some repairs to, and I remembered that I have forgotten to put back my docent since it fell out yesterday night while fighting the murderer. So first I took some wood from destroyed parts of the ship, I put it in my leg. I hear lots of sailors have wooden legs, so hopefully I will get better sealegs now. The Docent on the other hand had fixed it self! It could talk to me! Even if it didn’t have anything nice to say. Kept calling me dumb and such, but I showed it who is boss. He said he was chosen and special, but not much more. Seems he will still help me though. After I talked to it (I wonder what its name is? I should ask) we the others where talking to some “Guy” on the beach. He said he got stranded here and that there are lizardmen here. So ofcourse we went to find them, I think we where going to trade with them or something. But on the way we found a talking statue of a head and it breathed fire! It gave us a quest! It wanted to be rescued. Said that the lizardmen are worshipping it but that is turning it to something else, and it wants to get away. There was some talk about a dragon to but It said there wasn’t one so we should be in the clear.

So off we went to the Lizardmens temple cave. Outside they had some guards just waiting for us, but Shadow was able to sneak up and kill one before the fight really started and after that it was all to easy. I was mostly fighting snakes and lizards with black masks. And now we wait, taking a small rest before we venture inside. I wonder what we will find.

Captain’s log by Nerissa captain of "The Dragon's Star"

Captain’s log: Day 1 at sea… and in some place I’ve yet to figure out where it is

Well I guess it’s a bit against protocol to start an entrance like this, so long before dark, but I didn’t have time to write any log for yesterday and since we are all just sitting here resting… or waiting to be attacked again, and my book finally has dried up a bit I’ll just report all ”interesting” facts I’ve been faced with since I left the harbor of Haugurafgulli

First off all, I have a Drow aboard my ship. The masked sorceress woman finally showed me her identity. I don’t know much about the Drows except that they live under ground and that you are advised to either avoid or kill them if given a chance. I’m going to do neither. She is very nice to talk too. We had a private conversation in my quarter and I find that she is rather interesting, especially her appearance. I didn’t see much of the Tiefling this day, but I heard he had been having some milder trouble with the waves, very typical for a land crab. The dragon born wasn’t even able to stand up.

My ship had a little rendezvous with a cargo ship in the late afternoon. Amelia, annoying as always, led the assault and left my new guest stay to “protect” me. I do question her motive to completely trust these four strangers with my life. Although I guess I’m lucky she did, since the cargo ship turned out to be a decoy. Apparently the “good” King of Haugurafgulli in Kaupmaður had sent out bounty hunters after my head. Yes, let them try collect that reward with my head off its shoulders. Next time I meet the king I might take his head as a returned favor Anyway, suddenly half of my ship was surrounded by some force field and a bunch of scalawags where on my “captain’s deck”. My four “body guards” did a good job. They didn’t get in my way when I fought the slimy swine’s of my ship, and they even helped me, imagine that. I guess the warforged has… some good qualities… but it dose not make up for its vulgar manners…

When Amelia and my crew returned she did her annoying “big sister- act” and almost attack the group she had assigned as my defenders since she evaluated me injured. I had to remind her that there is no fighting among allies on my ship. The blasted priest then had to select that time to not duck when the boom turned and after taking the hit to his head he started rambling about his precious “Light”. That only made my crew angrier, so I sent them of to there stations, and my traveling guest down below. There was a nasty wind picking up around us and I didn’t want to be close to the cliffs when the storm hit us.

The storm was furious. I know this because I saw the hand of the goddess of the sea controlling it my self. She was set on swallowing us all, so why she didn’t is beyond me. Maybe there is something on this island that is worse than drowning? Well dying anywhere else than at sea surely is an unnatural thought, which I hope never comes true for me. I guess we wear lucky though, lucky that there wasn’t a village by the coast. We all know what villagers usually do to survivors of a shipwreck… Not much we could have done to stop it either. Most off us was washed up ashore unconscious. The Dragon’s Star is being repaired as I write this so no fears there. Avandra’s blessing is still with me.

There actually was a man on the beach when I woke up. A weird man… He called himself Guy Floatwood and claimed he had been put hear by ”the demon pirate”. Sounds like a fish tale to me. But he asked for passage on my ship when we leave. I’m starting to feel like I’m running a traveling agency… He informed us in his own crazy little way that there was some sort off lizard people living on the island, and for some reason this seamed to interest my, band of misfit, wardens, so we decided to check it out. Of course this was shortly after the warforged started to speak to himself, a behavior that even the other in his group seemed to take as unusual. I guess it’s only a matter off time until he snaps just like Leon. I better make sure that he is not near me when it happens though.

After following an old, over grown, stone paved road we entered a clearing with a ceremonial look to it. There was freshly laid down flowers and fruit around a human sized stone cut out to look like a very unnatural head and when Xunewent closer it shoot flames from its open mouth and started to speak to us, first in a very supernatural way and then suddenly in a more pleading manner. The voice wanted to be set free by us. He said that he had been on this island for centuries and was imprisoned in a dragon temple by lizard men that worshiped him but that their worship was driving him insane. When asked if there was an actual dragon on the island the voice answered no, but I’m not convinced. In fact I‘m convinced that he lied to us.

So here we are, at a campsite outside a cave where the statue told us to go. We have just been in a fight with Lizard men guards, poisonous snakes and darn irritating small kobold resembling creatures that just wouldn’t die. One of them managed to dodge attacks from myself, Clawand Xunebefore I finally got him. I guess that as soon as we’ve gotten some rest we’ll head into the cave and see what’s inside.

Captain’s log by Captain Nerissa of "The Dragon's Star"

Captain’s log: Day eight in Haugurafgulli

I brought Amelia with me to the meeting with the storstarkur this morning. The king was very pleased with me and my recent acquaintance for having disposed of an, apparently unappreciated, local Baron. I asked him to show his gratitude by letting me and my ship leave the docks, but he would hear nothing of the sort. Instead he told me that if I could catch this serial killer, that’s obviously the reason for me being stuck here, I am free to go. The group I met yesterday still wants to tag along aboard my ship when it leaves, but they have yet to agree to pay. They are however offering to help me catch the serial killer as payment, but they don’t understand. Without their gold, the trip to Arcadia while be very long.

Anyway after some discussion we decided to investigate the found bodies. It Turned out that there was no real connection between the victims except that they all seamed to be famous for having the best of the best of something. Like the fairest skin and so forth. Since all the victims always seamed to be missing the particular body part they wear known for I can not say if the rumors wear true.

We later went to have a visit with the captain of the guards at his house, but the lady of the house wouldn’t let our entire party in. I can understand her. That masked girl sure looks strange and well the warforged is a warforged… After the meeting we decided to split up, since I had a private meeting to attend to this evening. I ordered some of my crew members to stand guard outside a specific mans home. He was a famous bard in town, known for his “smooth talk”. They’ll report back to me tomorrow morning if something happened.

Captain’s log: Day nine in Haugurafgulli

Amelia and Tatiana didn’t show up for their usual reporting for duty this morning, Sebastian however told me they simply had stayed out late yesterday with the Bard and that they still was part of this ships crew. That’s good. I can’t set sail without my First mate and Navigator.

When I meet my new acquaintances this morning everything started as I might have suspected; with a fight. Some stupid pirates had started to harass the local market and Xune only pissed them off so I had to fight them. I’m glad that the few idiots from my own crew that I spotted had the sense to leave when they saw me coming. Otherwise they might have been arrested by the city guard. I really don’t have time for this.

After the fight I learned that there had been a new murder during the night so we went to examine the body. Adding two plus two together we soon figured out that whoever we’re looking for is extremely strong and likes to hang around the harbor. Maybe it’s good that no one in my crew has an outstanding reputation. We started to examine the docks when suddenly the priest, Claw, found a bloody handprint on a wall. Brack matched it with the warforged’s hand. It was almost a perfect match, that’s a bit disturbing. What if the sentient warforge they call Meatshied runs amok at nights? But that doesn’t make any sense since the others have been with him on stake outs… of course this is more or less a question if I trust any of them enough to not be a group of murderers. Still that wouldn’t ad up. The killings stared before they claimed to have arrived. More like around the time off my own bloody arrival. Talk about bad luck.

While we were standing at the dock Brack was suddenly challenged to an arm wrestling contest. Don’t ask me why. He easily won the competition but then the priest realized that someone had slipped him a note telling him to visit a specific place at a specific time, and to come alone. Not knowing if this was dangerous or not Brack and the warforged were sent to the place in advance to find a place to hide out. I however returned to my ship for a more proper disguise. However I quickly discovered that they would not need my help at the warehouse so I decided to return to my ship again for the night.

Captain’s log Day nine in Haugurafgulli: supplemental

I don’t know what to feel right now. After I returned to my ship Meatshield arrived to ask for my help in searching for the murderer again, so I went along. We didn’t have to search long until it… he was spotted on a rooftop on his way from the docks. We started to run after and when I arrived at the scene I knew who it was. It was Leon, one off my warforgeds. I would never have guessed it. He wasn’t sentient… at least he never gave anyone reason to believe so… I tried to order him to stand down. Hopping that he would listen if there really was a mind in there, but he didn’t. Instead he took a swing at me. At ME! His captain. Then Meatshield started talking with him. He told me afterwards that Leon had said that he only wanted to make himself pretty and presented me with the crest off Arcadia, that Leon had had within him. When I got back to the ship I tried to talk with Noel, but he seems as cut in stone as always. I don’t know that to believe now. Is warforgeds crew or property…? It’s getting really late. I suppose I need some rest. I have a new meeting with the storstarkur tomorrow, so i better get som rest. I hope he won’t hold me responsively for my “property’s” actions…

Captain’s log Day teen in Haugurafgulli

Warforgeds are definitely property and they should never, ever get the chance to develop a mind of their own. That Meatshield is nothing but a foul piece of junk and I hope it rusts while aboard this ship.

Everything went fine when we visited the storstarkur. He gave me “letters of mark” as a thank you, and told me my ship was free to sail. The other travellers however claimed that they had more to do in this dry hell hole.

Outside the city hall the bandits that had been captured yesterday at the market, and other people, wear facing the gallows. I couldn’t stand it. The memories of my biological father were to strong. He was the man whose deeds forced me on to this path in life. I still wonder what I would have become if they hadn’t executed him… If my new father hadn’t taken pity on my poor figure… Well lest just say I had to get way from there if I didn’t want a panic attack.

The others found me after a short while. The priest asked me what was wrong. The first nice thing he’s ever done to me, well it was a little to little a little to late and I had no wish to tell him anything. Instead I told them that if they paid me now I wouldn’t sail away without them. The next thing I know I was hoisted up into the air and placed over that disgusting warforgeds shoulder and he wouldn’t put me down no matter how hard I kicked and squirmed. My first thought was to call out for my crew to help, but I didn’t want them to see me like this so instead I reviled my secret to my captures and disguised myself. It carried me all the way to the warehouse and when I finally manage to get lose and tried to get away it quickly caught up and carried me back again. I’ve never been treated with such disrespect, and none of the other in the party tried to help me either. I suspect that they are all the same. Devious bastards… They’re going to pay for this. I have them aboard my ship now, and this is where the power is mine.

Hell, its about time...

Hi little book, it feels like an AGE since I last wrote in you but there has been so many things happening that I haven’t had time to write. First we came back to Hochenwald with the bomb, but the king had been overthrown! I don’t know why anyone would throw him, or over what, but he must have worked out poorly as a throwingweapon as he was in the dungeon! And some knights said something and then accused us of killing allot of people out of pure evil but that was not true! It was self defence! It was even proved in court..I think..I kinda spaced out..

Anyway we end up at some place called Haugurafgulli for some reason. I think we are going to Arcadia but I’m not sure..I spaced out again. And we want to get a ship to take us there but they couldn’t leave because someone was loose and killing people. So the king (oh yeah we met the King…but I kinda spaced out again) tells us to stop him and we can leave. So out we go. First we checked out all the crimescenes and the bodies, then we asked around and so. Turned out that someone was stealing body parts and turning the rest to mush. The killer was only after the best of the best, people with the strongest arms or best eyes and the like. So we track some of these special people down and try to protect them. People Like Strongarm Bart, who had strong arms. But not that strong as Brack beat him in arm wrestling, even if his tactic of loosing to win is a bit certainly worked. But as we where protecting Bart the killer killed a town-crier, I mean how unlucky can we get for crying out loud! But as we where just going there we where jumped by pirates! and many of them! It was such a fun fight. The merchants even gave us a reward, that’s how good we where at stopping them.

We checked around the crimescene but found nothing new, then we checked around the docks as some tracks where leading there, but all we found was a bloody 3fingered handprint. I swear the graffiti thugs here are hardcore to use blood. But as we are in the docks some punk want to challenge Brack in armwrestling. He promptly beat the guy and then Claw had a message in his pocket telling him to meet some strange people. But since we had to wait for dark until hunting the killer we went. Me and Brack where going to wait outside but found some strange people so we tried to sneak in. We failed but Brack caught one of the sneaky buggers. Turns out that some farmers wanted to ask Claw for help! To make the town open to worship other gods then The Bitch Queen. Long story short he said yes and we went out hunting.

As the night went on I saw something jumping on the roof of a nearby building. So we quickly ran that way and then found the killer trying to harvest more squishy parts from some bard. Turns out the killer was a warforged from Nerissas ship. As we cut him down he told me he only wanted to look pretty, that he thought the fleshies looked beautiful. And that he was trying to do good. I didn’t get that at all. But maybe they where all evil? Sadly it doesn’t matter as orders are orders, and we had to stop the killer. But it really upset me that Nerissa only seemed to see it as “loosing property” and not a crew member. As we stood over the remains my Docent went mad! I got a huge electric surge and fell down and it popped out. It took some bits from the other warforged and then went back to its ball form. I was very shocked! But it seems OK now.

In the morning we went to the king and he said we could finally go. Claw also made sure to broker a deal to let the farmers worship whatever they want. We where then going to tell the farmers the good news but Nerissa said she was going to leave without us! So I grabbed her and held her until we where done. but to my great surprise she changed shape! She must be one of those Changelings! And let me tell you little book, she was not happy about me holding on to her. Claw got the farmers to pay our fee for travelling on Nerissas ship, we then gathered our stuff and we are now Finally on our way to Arcadia!
